| Defect Summary | On certain trucks and mini vans, due to possible improper finishing of the front suspension lower ball joint, some ball joints may experience an incidental deterioration of the internal lubrication. this may cause the ball joint to wear and loosen prematurely, which could result in increased steering effort, reduced vehicle self-centering, and noise in the front suspension. | |||||||||||||||
| Consequence Summary | In extreme cases, if the vehicle is continuously operated in this condition, the lower ball joint may separate from the knuckle and could cause a loss of vehicle control. | |||||||||||||||
| Corrective Summary | Dealers will replace the front suspension lower ball joints. the recall began on february 28, 2007. owners may contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331. | |||||||||||||||

| My toyota sequoia is a 2006 4x4 and has excessive frame rust at the weld seems and all over the rear axle housing and suspension components. i recently learned that toyota has started to recall and replace these frames that are rusting from the inside out. i am worried about this rust at the frame weld and that snow and road salt and ice melter are causing my frame to rust from the inside out. my sequoia was originally licensed in kansas and they use heavy road salt. i live in colorado and they have a heavy use of mag chloride, which is a major rust factor. the toyota frame looks like it was never properly treated to prevent this type of rusting. i would like my frame to also be replaced and covered by toyota under this recall. | I am having unusual tire wear on the outside edge of all 4 tires on my vehicle (2006 toyota sequoia), to the point of becoming bald. i have been relaying my concern to the dealer for the past 11k miles. the vehicle currently has 21k miles on it. the vehicle has been aligned 3 times by manufacturer dealers, the front ball joints have been replaced and the vehicle has been thoroughly inspected by district level manufacturer's people. they are saying nothing is wrong with the vehicle, but i have been doing some research and am finding that this has been a complaint on the same model of vehicle since 2002. i feel that the suspension of this vehicle is not allowing it to ride properly on the tires, thus causing this premature wear. the problem seems to be on bf goodrich, bridgestone and in particular, dunlop tires. *tr | |||
