POWER TRAIN - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
12/14/200932001
Was traveling on constantine drive on my way to beach blvd in huntington beach. i was going approximately 15 mph, i had glanced down to look at my navigation system i noticed that i was close to a parked car and put on my brakes. i ended up striking the left tail light of a parked 2010 - blue - ford element. the point of impact was my right front taillight. my car flipped over in one fell swoop and landed upside down. eyewitnesses to the crash believe that a gust of wind caused the car to flip over. the police who arrived on the scene shortly thereafter could not find a justification for what had occurred at the low rate of speed that i was traveling. even though the car flipped upside down the air bags did not deploy. *tr
POWER TRAIN - MANUAL TRANSMISSION

My 2009 yaris )manual transmission) sedan stalls randomly when i move from low to second gear, but i have noticed an increase with the onset of warmer weather. i bought the car in early may, 2009. i wrote to toyota to complain about the problem and shortly received a call from the dealer, middletown toyota, to arrange a visit to evaluate the problem. the head of the repair department and i took a long ride during which both of us drove, and there were no stalling incidents. the man told me the engine/transmission was computer driven and ambient temperature and humidity were factors in the performance of the car. there was nothing he could do to change the situation, he said. yesterday march 17, 2010, i had the car out in 60-degree weather and it stalled 7-8 times, always when i needed to accelerate from a stop. it is scary when it happens. so far the engine re-ignites, but i wonder when the day will come when it stalls at an intersection and an accident occurs. i am writing because i feel this might be happening to other yaris owners.
