Defect SummaryCertain motor homes and travel trailers equipped with a two-door refrigerator, manufactured by the dometic corporation, may have a defect in the boiler tube. pressurized coolant solution could be released into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present.
Consequence SummaryRelease of coolant under certain conditions could ignite and result in a fire.
Corrective SummaryFleetwood will be working with dometic in order to repair these refrigerators (please see 06e076). dometic will repair these refrigerators by installing a secondary burn housing, a thermal fuse, and a melt fuse free of charge. dometic has retained stericycle inc. to manage this campaign. stericycle will assist you in locating dealerships or service centers and will provide assistance with scheduling of appointments. owners may contact dometic/stericycle at 1-888-446-5157 or fleetwood at 1-800-322-8216.

Defect SummaryOn certain travel trailers equipped with samsung microwave ovens, these ovens were produced with a defective panel. an electrical short can occur between circuit patterns on the membrane panel, especially overlapped by a jumper or jump wire. this may cause the oven to activate without pressing any key pads.
Consequence SummaryAn electrical short can occur causing the oven to activate without pressing any key pads. this could result in excessive heat, smoke, or possibly a fire.
Corrective SummarySamsung will notify customers and repair the panel free of charge. in the meantime, consumers should unplug their microwave, if possible. if the consumer is unable to unplug the microwave, they should leave the door ajar until the panel is replaced. consumers should never use the microwave oven for storage or leave any towels, paper, cloth or other products in the microwave after use. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact samsung at 800-932-3837 or fleetwood at 1-800-629-8454.

The consumer was unable to have the microwave oven recall repairs performed because the closest dealership was too far for them to send a service person and too far for the consumer to drive to the dealership. the consumer contacted the manufacturer, but they provided no assistance, they just hung up on the consumer. *ak *jb

I was south bound on i-5, north of longview, washington, towing my 2001 terry (by fleetwood) 5th wheel trailer. at 65 mph, the leaf spring on one of the trailer wheels broke. this caused the wheel to shift forward and the two tires on that side rubbed together, destroying both of them. another, passing, motorist alerted me to the problem and i was able to pull over before both tires blewout. i would estimated that i was minutes or even seconds from both tires failing at this rate of speed. the consequences of both tires blowing could have been catastrophic, causing injury or even death to the occupants of my track as well as other who may have been nearby. i paided to have the leafspring and the damaged tires replaced, as well as the towing for the 3/4 ton truck and 5th wheel ($250). though this incident resulted in no real harm except for the expense and inconvenience. i am concerned that the leaf springs are undersized and in adequate for the load they bear. upon examination, it is clear that the spring was defective, it had a visible flaw (hard spot)i am concerned that there will be other accidents because of these springs and that others will be hurt or killed. i am fearful to use my trailer again.

2001 fleetwood terry travel trailer, model number 28x: i am the original owner of this vehicle. i was preparing my travel trailer for use during this past memorial day holiday when i noticed the right side of the rear bumper was lower than the left side. i then inspected the frame, axles and tires. upon my inspection, i found the rear portion of the right side frame is bent horizontally, which is the result of both rear axle shackles that hold the suspension leaf springs had broken loose off the frame. as a result, the rear axle is resting on the snubbers. the rear axle is also bent. upon close inspection of both broken shackles, i determined that they broke off at the point of the weld to the frame. i believe this catastrophic failure of the frame/shackle assembly is the result of a defect in the weld, weld material and/or frame material. the travel trailer is now untowable. i am having a nys licensed rv mechanic inspect the damage and to write for me an estimate on the cost of repairing this frame and to also determine if it can be repaired at all for safe towing. i am bringing this defect issue to the attention of the national highway traffic safety administration and to fleetwood enterprises because if i had not noticed the position of the rear bumper, i would have towed this travel trailer and probably would have encountered sudden erratic handling or loosing control, causing a serious accident that may have resulted to serious injury or death to myself, my family, and other motorists. *tr
