| Defect Summary | Certain federal-mogul national and carquest aftermarket hub assemblies, p/n 515058, sold for use on 2001-2006 general motors 1500 and 2500 4wd trucks. on the subject hub assemblies, the abs sensor cord departs from the hub assembly at a 90 degree angle. as a result, there is a fit issue with the brake rotor dust shield interfering with the abs sensor cord. if the hub assembly is installed despite this interference, the gap between the abs sensor and the tone wheel may be altered. this may weaken the output of the abs sensor. diminished output could result in an unwanted abs activation at low speeds and stopping distance could be affected. | |||||||||||||||

| While driving i tilted my steering wheel and the headlights stopped working. i found that as i moved the wheel up and down there was a spot at which the lights would stop working. after going to the dealership i they found that a wire in the junction block of the multifunction switch (blinker assembly) had shorted out causing the lights to go out. dealership replaced the multifunction switch. *tr | |||

| Premature brake failure due to rotors rusting, rear rotors rusted and wore pads out front brake pads worn out on inside only, parking brake worn out on drivers side inoperable on passenger side. all pads and rotors needed to be replaced, rotors too delaminated to turn, parking brake pads replaced too. all parts available. 800 dollars to repair. *jb | |||

| Driving down the road in my 2001 gmc pickup when the line of vehicles in fromt of me started slowing down,i applied my breaks and the peadle went to the floor. i had to swerve to my left across traffic to avoid rear ending the vehicle in fromt of me. the momentum of the truck took me through a small parking lot and into a building . i do not have the vin as this happened aabout 3 ? years ago but i suspect it is available somewhere. | |||

| Stopped in front of house and when almost stopped the brake pedal went to the floor and i had no brakes except for a very slight drag. i stopped and looked under the truck and saw fluid coming from under the front of vehicle. it appeared to be brake fluid and it was traced to a metal brake running across the front frame member to the brake on the front passenger wheel. the line was extremely rusty and leaking profusely. upon further inspection all metal brake lines are severely rusted and need replaced. i have seen many vehicles but none with this amount of rust on every part of all lines and the frame. this truck is 10 yrs old and is now unsafe to drive until all brake lines are replaced at substantial cost and effort. as you would expect i am not pleased but consider myself very lucky. i could have killed someone or myself. please warn others this hazard exists. *tr | |||

| Complete brake failure on a 2001 gmc sierra 1500 pickup truck. on the hw1 fwy on the island of oahu , hawaii @ 7:30 pm hawaiian time. was going 60 miles per hour with no brakes. the system didnt respond or report a failure. had too down shift with automatic transmission & use parking brake too stop vehical & was able 2 manuever the truck onto the shoulder of hw1 fwy & slid on the red dirt until it stop six feet from a call box. please help too avoid this happening too anyone else. the truck is @ gmc cutter in waipahu hawaii. | |||

| I own a 2001 gmc sierra 1500. i have always taken exceptional care of my vehicle. the motor has always had a knock when you start it,which devalues the truck & it also has always used oil. the rack & pinion has started leaking. i have always owned a truck & have never had a rack & pinion go out let alone at 152000 miles.it also is losing antifreeze but there are no leaks. the fuel gauge has never worked properly,now its also flashes low coolant light when its not low.i have seen numerous complaints on line concerning these same issues & lawsuits. i do not feel the consumer should be having to foot these bills.i have called gm about my concerns & they say there is nothing they can do. what can we do to get a recall for all these problems. my truck is one of the ones that have dex-cool antifreeze. | |||
