A recall was sent to me, regarding an explosion could result, on my motorcycle, took it to my dealer, who tore into it immediately and found the problem. a new gas tank was to be sent to the dealer, here is where the problem begins; the bike sat on my dealers floor, for over two weeks, before harley davidson, would give a decision, after, i contacted, my dealer, and harley, a few days passed and said they are going to send a new tank, but it will take 6 to 8 weeks for that to happen, after several more phone calls and a lot of bull and aggravation, they said they will do what they can and that was it. i missed several events, rides and days. i ride my bike to work, so it is transportation also. my point is; we as consumers, were never told, that they would keep our bikes, for 6 to 8 weeks hostage, payments on a bike are the same as a car payment nowadays, except car dealers, give you some type of compensation; a rental, reimbursement, etc.,harley does nothing, but take your bike and leave you hanging. in all fairness, to harley, i've been riding for close to 40 years, through their lean times as well as the good and all ways it has been on a harley. it seems a shame, that an individual, who works in,harleys' consumer affairs department, can leave such a mark,by remarks. insinuations and that's the way it is attitude. my bike has been there for 5 weeks and i am sure, if not for my griping and winter approaching, it still would not be done, you see i was the first to bring the bike in for recall, at my dealer, my question is; what happens in the good weather, when demand is great? what about all the others? *nm
