TIRES - TREAD/BELT

Driving 60 mph on interstate 44. felt sudden vibration. thought it was roughness in the road, so i moved to a different lane. vibration did not stop. i then thought that it might be another firestone steeltex radial tire tread separating because i have had eight (8) previous firestone steeltex radial tires suffer catastrophic tread separation failures! before i could move to the right and get off the highway, the tread peeled all the off. it damaged the motorhome severely. note that, although all 8 previous tread separation failures occurred explosively, this one did not explode. i got off the highway, let the air out of the failed tire and installed the spare tire until i could go get a new replacement tire.*ak

Firestone, steeltex radial tire tread separated from core explosively on our motorhome with only 28,070 miles on it. this is 1st firestone steeltex radial tire to fail on this motorhome, but it follows all seven (7) of the firestone steeltex radial tires on our last (identical) motorhome failing in exactly the same way one by one over a period of just a year or so. these tires came already on the motorhomes when we bought them new.*ak
