At startup or during travel, the gear shift indicator light will either not illuminate or go out. as a result the driver has difficulty distinguishing which gear the car is in.during the evening hours it is almost impossible to see the gear shift indicator at all. this problem is an intermittent. all so i have noticed that the tach and speedometer gauges do not work either when the gear shift indicator light is not working.

We had never towed anything with this vehicle, never took this vehicle off roading either. the mechanic said that a gear popped through the casing, there are many noticable cracks in the casing. we kept all the old parts for inspection. i feel that i had a defective casing or something along those lines. a vehicle with less than 57000 should have never done this. i called the local gm dealer and they were not helpful at all. *ak
