Defect SummaryFleetwood rv is recalling certain model year 2005 and 2006 motorhomes manufactured between july 24, 2004 and march 11, 2005, equipped with norcold model 1200lr, 1200lrim, and 1201lrim refrigerators with serial numbers between 1273701 and 1536607, non-consecutively. a fatigue failure in the section of the cooling unit which contains the refrigerant could allow the liquid solution to slowly leak. if a leak occurs and the refrigerator continues to be operated after solution circulation has ceased the heat source could generate very high temperatures. at such high temperatures, the cooling unit could rupture.
Consequence SummaryIf a leak occurs and the unit is continues to operate, hydrogen gas may be expelled and can be ignited, resulting in a fire, possibly causing serious injury or death.
Corrective SummaryFleetwood rv will notify owners and the vehicle's refrigerator will be repaired free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin during september 2009. owners may contact fleetwood rv at 1-800-509-3418 or norcold's recall center at 1-800-767-9101.

Defect SummaryCertain motor homes and travel trailers equipped with a two-door refrigerator, manufactured by the dometic corporation, may have a defect in the boiler tube. pressurized coolant solution could be released into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present.
Consequence SummaryRelease of coolant under certain conditions could ignite and result in a fire.
Corrective SummaryFleetwood will be working with dometic in order to repair these refrigerators (please see 06e076). dometic will repair these refrigerators by installing a secondary burn housing, a thermal fuse, and a melt fuse free of charge. dometic has retained stericycle inc. to manage this campaign. stericycle will assist you in locating dealerships or service centers and will provide assistance with scheduling of appointments. owners may contact dometic/stericycle at 1-888-446-5157 or fleetwood at 1-800-322-8216.

Defect SummaryFleetwood is recalling 509 my 2001-2008 class a motor homes equipped with axles that include bosch zops or zoht pin slide hydraulic disc brakes. when combined with occasional or seasonal vehicle operation may experience calipers sticking in the applied position. this can result in abnormal heat generation at the wheel end causing brake drag. the driver would normally have warning of the brake drag if undetected by the driver.
Consequence SummaryThe driver would normally detect the brake drag but if undetected the temperature increase at the wheel end can eventually lead to soft pedal conditions due to brake fluid boil, and possible extended stopping distance increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect and replace the necessary components free of charge. workhorse is handling the remedy for this campaign please see 09v-110. the manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. owners may contact workhorse at 1-877-246-7731. workhorse will conduct the owner and dealer notification.

This investigation was opened based on odi's receipt of a congressional letter on behalf of a constituent.the constituent reported incidents where the slide out room of his motor home would inadvertently move (extend) during highway use.odi was concerned that a fully extended slide out would degrade the vehicle's dynamic handling characteristics and/or possibly impact an object or another vehicle, resulting in a crash.odi contacted fleetwood and discovered that slide out rooms were installed in motor homes, travel trailers and folding trailers. as part of the investigation odi visited a rv show and the fleetwood paxinos plant to examine slide outs in various new make and model vehicles and gain an understanding of how the systems work.during the investigation odi learned that there are two methods used to extend slide out rooms.some manufacturers use hydraulic systems and others, such as fleetwood, use an electric motor. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

November of 2008, i was driving through lake worth, florida when my front brakes on my 2002 pace arrow motor home started to heat up and smoke. upon inspection i found the brakes red hot at the steer axle. while doing a internet search for parts,i found a rv blog site with over 80 pages of complaints about the w22 workhorse chassis which i have. i also learned about a recall by workhorse. after calling workhorse they told me the update had been done by the previous owner at 12,000 mi. it now has 17,000 mi. and i see the update didn't work. i have replaced the wheel seals, oil hub caps, and rebuilt the calipers on both steer axles. judging by the blogs there are a lot of angry w22 workhorse chassis owners not getting much results from the manufacturer. this is a safety issue that should be resolved before people get injured or killed. the repairs done seem to be a temporary fix as best as many owners have had multiple brake failures. the cost to me was about $400.00. i do have the some of the old parts. i forgot to mention that the antilock brake sensors melted also. i fear going back out on the road that you never know when the next failure will be or what the results will be. i was lucky to be in slow traffic , but what about next time? thank you. *tr

Customer claim about recall campaign work which was not properly completed and put him in precarious safety situations and cost him money. customer wants concerns reviewed**cc the consumer stated the defect involved the brake caliper hanging in a partial apply position, which became extremely hot and caused severe damage to brake parts. the consumer stated the abs light would illuminate. the consumer had been to several dealers and upon inspection it was discovered the rotors were cracked, on another occasion the driver side sensor was loose all of which was related to the recall. *jb

The unit is topping out against the shocks when the vehicle goes over a series of bumps. it seems as if the unit is too light in the front end. there is a 14 foot overhang from the bumper to the center-rear axel. wheel base is 228 inches and the total length of the coach is 37'11. the braking system shakes like crazy and doesn't slow the unit down. this failure is random and there are no consistent conditions under which this failure occurs. the dealer has investigated this problem and cannot find anything wrong with the brakes.

While driving on december 26,2007 we felt a drag on the unit and we were aware of an odor indicating something was hot. we stopped and checked into a campground. as we backed into the site and put on the brake it went to the floor, no brakes. engine area we observed fluid was splattered under the hood. brake fluid had blown out of the top of the brake fluid container. we were able to get into a garage on saturday 29th. and advised the the problem was with the calipers and that we needed new brake calipers and probably should replace the master cylinder. it was saturday and the master cylinder was not available so only the calipers were replaced. we have no pictures but we do have the old calipers. we contacted workhorse but sent a form letter telling us how to use the brakes and that the coach was out of warranty and they were not responsible for any further reimbursement. *tr
