Defect SummaryNavistar has notified nhtsa of a defect on certain model year 2008-2011 international trucks equipped with an optional jump start stud. corrosion at the base of the stud may cause an electrical short between the stud and battery box.
Consequence SummaryAn electrical short may cause a vehicle fire.
Corrective SummaryA final remedy for this defect has not yet been determined. an interim action will involve the removal of the jump start stud and the connecting cable. the safety recall is expected to begin late september 2010. owners may contact international dealers at 1-800-448-7825.

Defect SummaryNavistar is recalling certain model year 2005-2011 international 3200im, and model year 2007-2011, ic bus model hc buses, manufactured from august 16, 2004, through may 13, 2010. when the bus kneeling feature is activated, the rear brake line may be pinched by a frame member causing the rear brakes to drag.
Consequence SummaryBrakes that drag could overheat and may lead to a fire, which may cause property damage, personal injury, or death.
Corrective SummaryNavistar will notify owners, and dealers will install a clip to ensure that the brake line cannot be pinched. this service will be performed free of charge. an interim owner notification letter will be sent if the final remedy is not available before march 20, 2012. owners may contact navistar at 1-800-448-7825.

 Odi became aware of three bus fires that originated in the area of the transmission on the subject vehicles through media reports.inspection of the vehicles indicated that the static parking brake, which is located behind the transmission, may have been applied as a result of an air leak while the vehicles were in motion.under certain driving conditions, the parking brake can apply without the audible driver warning engaging.parking brake application while the vehicle is in motion may result in a fire.to address the concerns of this investigation, navistar has issued a recall (12v-479) that will add a switch to detect parking brake lever movement while the vehicle is in motion (in addition to the existing switch that monitors brake line air pressure) and set an additional warning light to warn the driver of application of the parking brake.navistar's recall actions address the issues raised by this investigation and as a result this investigation is closed.
