Defect Summary | Winnebago is recalling 114 my 2008 view, my 2009 era, and my 2008 itasca navion class c motor homes built on sprinter chassis and equipped with 3.0l diesel engines. the crankshaft sensor in certain diesel engines could fail due to separation of bond wires from the lead frame in the sensor.
Consequence Summary | This results in an interruption in the electrical connection in the chip housing of the sensor. when this happens, affected vehicles may lose power. this could result in the vehicle becoming immediately inoperable increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Summary | Sprinter is handling the remedy for this campaign (please see 07v594). dealers will replace the crankshaft sensor free of charge. owners may contact sprinter at 1-800-992-1997 or winnebago at 1-641-585-3535.
Notes | Customers may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to http://www.safercar.gov.

07V445000 | WINNEBAGO INDUSTRIES, INC. | from 06/11/2007 to 08/03/2007 | V (Vehicle) | 65 | MFR | WINNEBAGO INDUSTRIES, INC. | 09/21/2007 | 09/21/2007
Defect Summary | On certain motor homes equipped with with a 3.2 qd cummins onan generator, the generator's internal controller may fail; however, the electrical circuits would remain energized. included in these circuits is the electronic preheated element which aids cold starts at ambient temperatures below 0 degrees celsius. in normal operation, this circuit is energized no longer than 120 seconds at 30 celsius. if the circuit remains energized beyond the designed period, the preheated element can over heat.
Consequence Summary | If the element over heats, a fire in the air intake system could occur.
Corrective Summary | Winnebago is working with cummins to replace the generators free of charge (please see 07e076). owners may contact cummins at 812-377-3713 or winnebago at 641-585-3535.
Notes | Customers may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to http://www.safercar.gov.
SEAT BELTS | ||||||||||||||||
10V470000 | WINNEBAGO INDUSTRIES, INC. | V (Vehicle) | MFR | WINNEBAGO INDUSTRIES, INC. | 10/05/2010 | 10/12/2010 | 571 | 210
Defect Summary | Winnebago is recalling certain model year 2006 through 2011 winnebago view and itasca navion motor homes because the dinette area seat belt restraints on those vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 210, seat belt assembly anchorages. in a collision, the generated crash forces can cause the restraint's attachment to tear and allow the anchor to separate from the body of the vehicle.
Consequence Summary | If the restraint separates from the vehicle during a crash, the belt will not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury or death to the occupant.
Corrective Summary | Winnebago has not yet provided a remedy and an owner notification schedule for this campaign. owners may contact winnebago at 1-800-537-1885.

I tried two days ago but my memo dids not go thru. my reference # 447680 while in an i95 rdest stop in santee, sc my unit broke into flames when the generator was started to make coffee. i was able to extinguish the fire and call 911. santee fd responded quickly. after checking the unit carefully and turning off the batteries to the house portion they cleared me to drive home to richmond, va this fire was in an inaccessable area behind the wall under the bathroom sink. i am a senior and an amputee this could have been a disaster.

The vehicle went into limp home mode ( no power boost from turbo) after 5 hours of driving at 75-85 degrees f. this went on for approximately 30 miles at which point the power slowly came back to normal with outside temperature at 56 degrees f. we stopped twice for 10 minutes each time, during the 30 miles, turned off the engine and restarted it with no apparent effect on the power loss. we took it to a dodge dealer to be repaired and all they did was clear the memory and reset the engine computer. they found error code 2359 at that time but claimed it was an incomplete code and that it was impossible to troubleshoot any further and that it was probably caused by a computer glitch. no parts were replaced. *tr

2008 winnebago view fuel tank does not have a generator. consumer states that chrysler refused to replace the vehicle when it broke down 111 miles after purchase. they do not believe they should have to pay for the payments on it since it can't run. *kb the consumer stated the manufacturer sent fuel tank parts twice that were not appropriate for the rv. upon removal of the tank, there was a fracture in a fitting on top of the tank for the vent. the consumer was informed that no fuel tank supporting a generator connection exists. *jb
