| Defect Summary | On certain motor homes equipped with an independent front suspension (ifs) gen ii built by holland usa, the gear plate support gussets were removed. this can allow the plate to flex during a static steer condition. | |||||||||||||||

| Corrective Summary | Holland usa is conducting the owner notification and remedy for this campaign. a bolt-on strengthening of the steering gear plate with u-bolts connecting the cross member to each side of the gear plate at the rear plus a tube support in the front with j-bolts to the gear plate will be installed. owners should contact holland usa customer service at 1-888-396-6501 for information and instructions for where customers can take their vehicles to have the repairs done free of charge. | |||||||||||||||

| Defect Summary | Holland independent front suspensions p/n 90547917 ifs-114 with the 90547978 subframe for use on certain country coach vehicles and shipped between march 5, 2003, and june 28, 2004. early ifs-114 units with p/n 90546687 used a different subframe, p/n 90546691 that is not affected by this recall. the new subframe did not have gussets that help support the steering gear mounting plate. the lack of gussets allows excessive flexing of the steering gear mounting plate which may lead to fatigue cracks. | |||||||||||||||
| Consequence Summary | If a crack were to develop and propagate to the point where the steering gear mounting plate were to separate from the suspension subframe, then steering can become loose with possible loss of steering control. a vehicle crash could occur, possibly resulting in personal injury or even death. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: vehicle safety defect owner notification, 05v-373. affects various country coach motor homes. the subject safety defect lists several models of country coaches. mine is not included in the list, however the same defect has appeared in my motor home, i.e. large blisters appearing on the hydraulic hoses for the hwh slide room. this could result in the loss of hydraulic fluid, which could cause the slide room to unexpectedly extend while in-transit. this can result in a vehicle crash. (this description is taken directly from the recall notice) the list of affected models for this recall should be revised, as it is apparent that my coach has the same problem. my coach is a 2004 intrigue, vin 4u7b8dy1641103823. i believe it was built in january, 2004. this problem was discovered while the coach was undergoing routing service. country coach has not responded to my request for help in fixing the problem.*jb | |||
