Dt: the contact's grandson took the vehicle to an automotive shop and the vehicle was left overnight and it caught on fire. the fire department said it was spontaneous combustion. they said it started from the engine compartment on the driver's side. nhtsa recall 99v124000 was issued concerning vehicle speed control:cruise control. however, the consumer stated she contacted ford, and this vehicle was not included in the recall due to vin. the fire department stated this was consistent with recall for the vehicle speed control switch. consumer stated the vehicle had been sitting there for 15 hours before it caught on fire. prior to the vehicle catching on fire the contact's grandson had to put the vehicle into neutral in order to get the vehicle to start. *ak updated 12/27/05. *jb | |||
